The brand Hush Puppies registered on July 1, 1958. Soon after, the company bought a photo of a Basset hound which became the company logo and ended up on millions of shoes, boxes, ads and displays. The photo was bought for $50. Hush Puppies was first introduced at the national shoe fair in Chicago in 1957. The shoes got a lot of attention. Never before had a company presented such a laidback and natural design that, at the same time, was so comfortable, lightweight and made of brushed suede with a rubber sole. Hush Puppies philosophy is to design fun and comfortable shoes with a genuine style for everyday work activities as well as weekend fun.
